The Pain of Paying Made Me Pay Attention
Why I Just Spent $24,000 on My Education (and why you should too)
Dear Andre, (4-minute read)
This week, I want you to do one thing: Stop being cheap with your growth.
I know you read that title and think I'm insane. But guess what I wanted to do on my 15th birthday? I went to a networking marketing training. Not because I wanted to get rich quick. Because I love learning. It's in my bones.
Earlier this week, I invested $24,000 to be coached by Alex Hormozi for six months. ANDRE, THAT'S TERRIFYING. But here's what I've learned: The things that scare you most are usually the things that will change your life most. And I'm about to prove it to you.
(P.S. - If you're new here, Here’s a free copy of 100M Money Models also linked at the bottom - my gift for reading this newsletter)
Most young men are cheap with their growth. Expensive with their excuses.
Don't be most young men.
Why "Free" Is Actually Costing You Everything
Ever noticed how the things you get for free are the things you value least? Your brain works backwards here. The more something costs you, the more you pay attention. The more you pay attention, the more you actually change.
But here's what most people miss: Early on, you invest time because you have lots of it and it's not worth much yet. Later on, you invest money to get time back because your time becomes more valuable. I used to spend months trying to figure things out on my own. Now? I'd rather pay someone who's already cracked the code and get those months back to actually execute. (that’s what I did with my book Just start, took an 8 month project and finished it in 9 weeks)
Time is the only thing you can't make more of. And here's the crazy part: I've done this so many times now that it doesn't feel crazy anymore. (Well, maybe a little)
Going to Ecuador for 77 days? Scary expensive.
Joining The Arena mastermind? Scary expensive.
Working with a book consultant? Scary expensive.
Brand Builders Group? Scary expensive.
But I haven't regretted a single investment. Want to know why?
The Real ROI Isn't Money
Let's talk about what I actually got for all that money... It wasn't just knowledge. (You can get knowledge from YouTube) It wasn't just skills. (You can get skills from books)
It was three things:
The people. The Arena led to friendships that helped me write my book. The people willing to invest serious money in their growth? They're serious people.
The organization. Someone else had already figured out the step-by-step path. No more wandering around YouTube hoping to stumble on the right answer.
The application tailored to me. Generic advice is worthless. But when someone can look at your specific situation and say "Here's exactly what YOU need to do next"? Game changer.
Every single investment connected dots I couldn't see coming.
People > Everything
That's my equation for life.
Someone Just Broke My Brain
Here's what happened when I met someone from this $24,000 community: He asked me: "Could you make that $24,000 back in one conversation?" My brain short-circuited.
But then I realized: That's actually possible. One good connection. One business partnership. One idea that clicks. The math changes everything when you think like this.
Most people see the cost. Successful people see the investment. Which one are you?
Your Challenge This Week
This week, stop being cheap with your growth. I'm not saying go blow $24,000. (That would be stupid if you don't have it) But I am saying this:
Find the skill you need most. What's holding you back right now?
Find the people who have that skill. Where do they hang out? What communities are they in?
Pay to be around them. A course, a mastermind, a conference, a coach. (sometimes it’s as simple as lunch/coffee) Something that makes you slightly uncomfortable.
The pain of paying will make you pay attention. And when you pay attention, you actually change.
Look, I have nothing to lose right now. That makes me dangerous. I want you to become dangerous too.
Not reckless. Not stupid. But willing to bet on yourself when it matters.
Because here's my promise to you: I'm going to take everything I learn from this $24,000 investment (and the $X3,000+ I've invested this year) and share the highlights with you for free. Why? Because you deserve to grow too. I believe in you. And because the best way to make an investment make sense? Make it make sense.
Well, that's all for now.
Daniel
