Just Start: Action (week 2)

Volume Negates Luck

Dear Andre, (4-minute read)

1 Idea: Action is the greatest gift you can give your future self
1 Emotion: Challenged (it's simple, but not easy)
1 Action: Identify one daily activity that moves your dream forward

Words I like: Every idea is a bad idea until it’s been tested in the market place. - Mark Randall.

Yesterday I posted 11 reels. Eleven. (linked to the best one)

Not because I had some perfect content strategy. Not because I had a studio setup or optimal lighting. I posted 11 reels because I've learned something that changed everything about how I take action.

Volume negates luck.

Let me tell you the story that broke my brain about what "taking action" really means.

The 12-Week Year That Changed My Business

At the beginning of 2024, I decided to track three simple daily actions:

  1. Talk to 3-5 people about my business

  2. Post something every day

  3. Write down ideas for new offers (or create one)

That's it. Three things. Every single day for 90 days.

The result? I detailed 89 vehicles in 90 days. Not because I got lucky. Not because I had some perfect system. Because I took consistent action every single day.

Sidenote: If you book a 5 year ceramic coating and premium interior detail before September 24th you’ll get 3 express exterior details for FREE. Only 2 of these left! DM my instagram COAT to reserve yours. Here’s the best performing video from yesterday’s test. (about this offer)

Action is the greatest gift you can give your future self.

My Brain Got Broken by Alex Hormozi

Here's what shattered my minimum standard of action: I'm in a 6-month coaching program with Alex Hormozi's team. Want to know how much content they put out per month? 35,000 pieces.

If I post one thing every day, they're still doing 1,000x more than I am. That's insane.

But here's what happened after I heard that number: It broke my level of action completely.

The Tuesday That Everything Changed

On Tuesday, I made 15 different pieces of content and scheduled them across my Instagram, one of my client accounts for Just Start Media, and my detailing business. That felt like a lot, and I was proud of what I'd created.

Then Thursday happened. I had an idea for an offer. Instead of thinking about it or "perfecting" it, I made one video. Then I made 7 different hooks for that same offer. Yesterday morning, while eating eggs and English muffins (before detailing 2 cars), I edited and scheduled all 7 versions.

*Infomercial voice* But wait, there's more!

Two people asked me questions about water spots. Instead of just texting them back, I made short videos answering their questions. One-time work, huge payoff long-term. Now anytime someone asks about water spots, I can show them this video.

Yesterday I put out 11 reels. Eleven.

The Real Secret Behind Volume

Here's the thing about those 11 reels: They weren't perfect. The offer video was recorded outside a Lifetime Fitness. I didn't have a studio. The lighting wasn't optimal. But I tried something. (and 2,544 views on the offer in one day)

My idea-to-implementation time is getting faster. And that's the real game-changer.

Most people spend weeks perfecting one piece of content. I'd rather create 11 imperfect pieces and see what works. Because here's what I've learned: You can't optimize what doesn't exist. (and now I know which hooks work best)

The Question That Changes Everything

If you took last week's newsletter seriously, you know what dream you're working on. Now here's the question that will determine whether that dream becomes reality:

What's one daily activity that would help you realize that dream?

Not one perfect activity. Not one activity you'll do "when you're ready." One daily action you can start today.

Because if you can't identify the action you're taking today to build the tomorrow you want, you won't have a better tomorrow. You'll just have a longer today.

Raise Your Minimum Standard

Most people think taking action means doing something big and perfect once in a while. That's not action. That's procrastination with better marketing.

Real action is raising your minimum standard. It's asking yourself:

  • What's already working? (can I just do more of that?)

  • What am I currently doing that I can do better?

  • What do I need to do differently?

More. Better. Different. That's the framework. for me (and probably for you) the answer is simply more. Volume negates luck. (are you sensing the theme?)

Your Challenge This Week

This week, I want you to get uncomfortable with your level of action. Not reckless. Not stupid. But uncomfortable.

Pick one daily action that moves your dream forward. Then do it every day for the next 21 days. Track it. Measure it. Celebrate the small wins.

And remember: If you're not good yet, good. Join the club. Now just get better.

Volume negates luck, Andre. But only if you're willing to produce the volume.

Well, that's all for now.

Daniel

P.S. - What's one daily action you could start today? Hit reply and tell me. I read every email, and sometimes accountability is all you need to start.
