I found my 'iPhone' (and it changed everything)
The timeless thing that will grow with you for decades
What's Your Porsche 911? (The One Thing That Will Define Your Next 50 Years)
Dear Andre (5 min read)
Chris Do shared something fascinating at the conference that got me thinking...
The Porsche 911 hasn't fundamentally changed in 50 years. Sure, it's been updated, refined, and improved—but the core essence remains the same. Same with the iPhone. Seventeen years later, it's still recognizably an iPhone, just evolved.
This sparked a question that I can't stop thinking about…
Sidenote:
You’re invited to a 4 week training limited to just 5 people starting in August. In the 4 weeks we will: Identify 1 dream you have.
Find 1 action you can take. (daily)
1 Place you can go that will pull you towards your dream.
1 person who will help push you towards it.
Normally something like this would be $199, (Live training) but for this first group it’s just a $29 administrative fee to set up all the digital infrastructure.
Reply “Start” to receive all the details. (this in an exclusive group) and once it’s full it’s full.
What's Your 911 or iPhone?
What's the one thing you could create that would grow and evolve with you for decades? Not something you'd constantly reinvent, but something you'd continuously refine and improve?
For me, it's my book Just Start.
This idea—that if something doesn't exist in the world but you want it to exist, you can just make it—has been part of me for years. I've been experimenting and creating my whole life, but now I finally have the words to describe how I've lived.
Just Start isn't just a book. It's my 911—my timeless core that will grow with me.
The Power of Being in the Right Room
Here's what blew my mind at the conference: I met person after person with thousands, tens of thousands, even hundreds of thousands of followers. They'd built real digital infrastructure to sustain real businesses.
And suddenly, the lie that "I can't do this" was forever broken.
When you're around people who've done what you want to do, possibility becomes tangible. It's no longer a question of if—it's a question of when and how.
Your Two-Part Challenge This Week
Part 1: Ask yourself: "What could be my 911 or iPhone? What's the one thing I could create different versions of for decades?"
Part 2: Here's the bigger question: "Is there something I'm thinking about doing or very interested in, but I haven't put myself in a place to learn more about it?"
Because if you haven't been willing to risk or sacrifice to be in environments that inspire you toward your goal, then you're not serious about it. (yet)
There's almost always sacrifice required to have the things you long for.
The Authenticity Test
One more thing that struck me: I watched how Chris treated people in person versus online. The love, care, and kindness he showed me face-to-face? He expressed that same energy digitally.
When I posted a story of us together, he thanked me and reposted it to his story. Such a small thing, but it mattered. He treats people as people, both online and offline.
That's the kind of personal brand worth building.
Your Next Move
This week, find your event. Find your place. Find your people.
Ask yourself: "Is there an event, place, or group of people gathering who would inspire me toward becoming more of who I want to become?"
Then choose to be in that place, around those people.
I dive deeper into this in Chapter 7 ("The Power of Spaces") of Just Start. If you haven't read it yet, grab your copy here on Amazon.
The question isn't whether you can do this.
The question is: Are you ready to put yourself in the room where it happens?
Talk soon, Daniel
P.S. Hit reply and tell me—what do you think your 911 or iPhone could be? I read every response and would love to hear your thoughts.
